Villainish Drift

I love my pride and joy blaster lass, even though I’m still not used to the changes that she’s suffered through ED. Playing her’s become far more interesting, she’s not as strong with dealing damage and has weaker defense. I’ve gone into the yellow and red on her with more frequency post ED than I did pre-ED. I don’t like that, but whatever. Bitching and whining won’t change a thing. Her saving grace is the somewhat decent amount of Hami-O’s she has slotted up. I’d be afraid to know what kind of a glass cannon she’s become without said Hami-O’s.

Rae is becoming everything that Stormy was and more. She can deal decent damage (it’d be more if there was no ED to limit things) and lock most things down. But she’s still a glass cannon of sorts. Having spent a bulk of time on Rae I’ve been adapting my blaster tactics to fit my Blastroller Dominator, who is not a controller and not a blaster. Playing a true blastroller is fun. Now I can’t speak for the other flavors of Dominators and how they stack up to plant/fire (ranged fire attacks that is) dominators.

I brushed the dust off of Stormy the other day to help the Twinlet level a lowbie or two and halfway through the second mission we ran, realized that I was playing Stormy somewhat like Rae, cycling through holds on mobs and alternating that with her gimped attacks and thinking more like a domi and not a blaster.. Whereas before, Stormy was the Ranged Cannon of Doom. Granted, Stormy was running missions with Malta and Nemesis, two of the unfun mob types and Malta top the list.

Rae dinged 30 over the weekend after spending an eternity at 29. The aura mission set for CoV is much, much easier than CoH (ie. talk to someone then do a mish. The end.). The third costume slot mission, however, is hell if you’re a squishie soloing. Killing 30 Longbow may seem easy, but it’s not, especially when the long delayed ambush consisting of a solid third of that amount. After two wipeouts trying to keep the ambush contained in Mercy, a random thermal corruptor jumped in and was keeping me alive so I could get said group widdled down. Yes I’m crazy and believe in cleaning up my ambushes, considering this one did not despawn after getting a certain distance away from me.

Rae also completed the first respec, after having a very, very bad introduction to said respec previously. I also should note that Stormy had the very same problem on her very first respec. This must be a trend, lucking into a crappy pick-up group for first respecs. I’m thinking of waiting til Rae dings 32 before respec’ing her since money’s at a premium right now and that gives me the option of selling all her old enhancements and then upgrading them on the spot.

Dark jumped from 10 to 15 Friday night, all on one team, and mostly consisting of two of the remaining core CoH SG I was in as well as the roomie and friends of one of them. Dark also joined that SG, which means I need to get someone else to 10 so I can create mine to play with the bases and whatnot. So far it looks like a small, but core bunch of folk, mostly guys from what I can tell by the trash talking they banter back and forth with.

And now for the fun part… the “holiday” bonus ingame. It’s a jet pack which is obviously red, green and white and is good for a month on any level character, but the best part is that there is no endurance penalty like there is with Fly. Running around with that for a while made me realize just how much I miss having Fly as a travel power and how much I loved the SS/Fly travel combo. Jumping’s fun, but you need to take 3 powers to get the knockback resistance from Acrobatics, which you have in Hover. Only trade off is using a few slots in Hover (which cannot be 6 slotted anymore for close to base Fly speed, thank you ED *snort*. But 3 is doable for combat *shrug*.)

Now that I dinged 10 on Dark, I can start up my Private Little SG that I’ve been thinking of starting. And this also means I need to use one of my questionable to keep lowbies for salvage storage in the meantime.

I still like the idea of naming a SG Pervert, which of course is an acronym. But I’m not entirely sure – need to work on name ideas today and get that started up asap.
